As the day was ending on December 14, 2025 and the Festival of Hanukkah was about to start, two snipers began shooting into the crowd gathered for a public celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. At least 15 people were killed, including a survivor of the Shoah, a rabbi, and children. Dozens more were wounded. The shooters were a father and son, apparently inspired by ISIS. The former did not survive. A passerby named Ahmed al-Ahmed disarmed the son.
