St. Raphaela Center, Haverford, PA

Present: Mary Boys, Robert Cathey, Phil Cunningham (presiding), Alice Eckardt, Katharina von Kellenbach, Björn Krondorfer (scribe), Jean Pierre Ruiz, Franklin Sherman, Karla Suomala

  1. Meeting started at 9 a.m.
  2. Minutes of October 23, 2009 were approved
  3. Forthcoming Meetings and Travel Costs:

    1. For the November 2010 meeting in Chicago, participants pay their own travel; it was suggested to contact one of the following scholars in the Chicago area to be a guest presenter at this meeting: David Sandmel, Sarah Tanzer, Michael Fishbane, Regina Schwartz. There seemed to be a lot of interest to ask Sarah Tanzer (but I can’t remember whether any person took responsibility for contacting her)
    2. Spring 2011 meeting in Boston (1 ¾ days): first choice April 8-10, second choice April 1-3; what can we offer Boston in return (like the Yom HaShoah event at St. Joseph’s in the spring of 2010?)
    3. Fall 2011, either Muilenberg College or St. Joseph University/St. Raphaela Ctr
  4. The group discussed further the possibility of conducting a one-week summer seminar in July of 2011 to start a conversation between the particularity of Jewish-Christian dialogue and the religious pluralism/comparative theology circles. It was decided to contact the Luce Foundation to start initial exploration of possible match and interest.
  5. Nomination Committee: Mary Boys was elected to join Peter Pettit and Jean-Pierre Ruiz on the committee, which will be convened by Jean-Pierre. It was suggested to nominate James Bernauer to become member of CSG and to ask Rosann Catalano to contact him.
  6. Program Committee: Katharina von Kellenbach was elected to join Karla Suomala and Phil Cunningham on this committee, to be convened by Katharina.
  7. Chair: current turn of the chair ends 2011. The outgoing chair will appoint an ad hoc committee for the election of a new chair.

The meeting adjourned at 10:30am.
